Leaving a wet and windy Weymouth we were pleased to arrive at Loscombe in warm sunshine.
While we were waiting for everyone else to arrive we had a quick search for the small colony of Snakeshead Fritillaries which have been on the site for years. Much to our surprise and delight we found several clumps not far from the car park. Walking up the valley we found a good variety of plants (listed below) and quite a few birds including a very confiding Coal Tit. Getting home to find it had rained much of the afternoon in Weymouth made our sunny afternoon all the more enjoyable! |
