November 1st Today saw the return of winter birdwatching from the trail with Mergansers and Great-crested Grebes back in the harbour for the first time since spring. November 2nd After a whole year of looking for one I finally saw a Kingfisher from the trail today. It was flying along the shoreline below the Downclose cliffs travelling towards Sandsfoot. Later on it appeared again this time at Whitehead's Pier flying towards Small Mouth. It may well be worth looking for it on the boats there. November 8th Very little around today but both Green and Great Spotted Woodpeckers were feeding near the Wyke Road tunnel. November 12th The first Great Northern Diver of the winter was off Sandsfoot this morning. November 22nd Typical winter fare today with Redwing and Fieldfare over Newstead Road and 3 Great Northern Divers off Sandsfoot. November 29th Very little to see today until I got to Small Mouth where there was the first Little Grebe of the winter and a flock of 80 Starlings moving north across the harbour. |
