April 6th Plenty of Chiffchaffs and Blackcaps this morning with one Willow Warbler singing near the Old Castle Inn. 15 Sandwich Terns were being very noisy in the harbour and suprisingly the Great Northern Diver turned up again. April 10th Still plenty of Chiffchaffs and Blackcaps this morning but very little else. A group of 6 Oystercatchers flying across the harbour was the largest flock I've seen from the trail. A late Redwing was heard over Newstead Road last night. Away from birds a tail of a Slow-worm at Newstead Road was my first record of any reptile on the trail in recent years. April 18th A Whimbrel flew over Newstead Road during the afternoon, a new species for my Trail list - the 103rd since Sept 2007. April 19th The first Common Terns were in Portland Harbour and the first House Martins were over Newstead Road. |
