After the
Alexanders
in April and the
Cow Parsley
in May, Common Hogweed is the third umbellifer to dominate the Rodwell Trail.
Although you can safely feed the leaves to your rabbits, be careful how you handle this plant as it contains a chemical (furocoumarin) that burns skin if it is exposed to sunlight. So if you need to clear some from your garden, you'd best do it at night! |
