October 1st - An unexpected doorstep surprise today when 11 Bearded Tits flew high over the northern end of the trail calling loudly and heading south. October 2nd - A Kingfisher on the rocks at Downclose and a Wheatear and a Turnstone at Smallmouth were the highlights on a very hot and birdless day. October 20th - The first Redwings of the autumn were heard over Abbotsbury Road tonight. October 22nd - The first Great Crested Grebe of the autumn was off Sandsfoot but todays real highlight was the gorgeous Snow Bunting a mile or two away from the trail at Camp Road. October 23rd - A few Kittiwakes were taking the short cut through the harbour this morning in a strong but very warm south-easterly. October 31st - A very late Wheatear at Smallmouth and the first Kestrel for several months at Downclose. |
