December 7th - 16 black-necked grebes off Sandsfoot Castle, where there were also 2 kestrels and a raven calling nearby. At Knightsdale Road a peregrine and a sparrowhawk were circling over the houses. December 14th - No black-necked grebes this morning but a slavonian grebe, a female eider and 4 brent geese were off Sandsfoot instead. December 22nd - The flock of 16 black-necked grebes were off Downclose this morning along with 2 slavonian grebes and a great northern diver. A stonechat was by the sailing club. December 24th - A few more divers this morning after yesterday's storm - 2 each of black-throated and great northern. December 30th - All the expected birds present this afternoon plus one new one - a very distant female velvet scoter. more on my video blog ... |
