Our weekly Friday Portland walk took us to the Eastcliffs at Southwell today in rather blustery weather.
Lots of painted ladies out including this huge female on (white) red valerian flowers.
A total of 9 butterfly species seen in 90 minutes: Red Admiral, Comma, Peacock, Painted Lady, Wall, Speckled Wood, Common Blue, Small White, Large White
This one is the comma.
As it was now quite warm we decided to call in to the High Angle Battery at the north end of the island to see if the adonis blues were showing themselves.
They weren't but we did see this lovely fox moth caterpillar.
You might want to turn the sound down as this is a very windy recording.
