A pair of skylarks were feeding just in front of the visitor centre at Ferrybridge this afternoon.
As is often the case, when I looked at this video at home, I realised that it revealed something I had not noticed before. These skylarks are feeding with their legs folded up underneath them, making the birds seem much smaller than they would otherwise look. This must be of great benefit in open situations such as this. I have never noticed this before, but skylarks always do look much smaller at Ferrybridge than they do in the long grass of Portland Bill!
