This particularly bright female Small Copper appeared to be investigating all sorts of plants, including Marjoram and Birdsfoot Trefoil, but was most interested in a tiny Sorrel plant nearby. When it found this it crept down to an old red leaf at the base but whether it actually layed any eggs is not clear from this video.
Several years ago I filmed a Chalkhill Blue egg-laying on its Horseshoe Vetch food-plant at more or less the same site as the Small Copper above. Again, you can't really see the egg-laying take place but this is clearly what is going on.
