A trip to Poole Harbour that turned into a full-on twitch (a trip specifically to see a species you have never seen before),
resulting in this appallingly low-quality movie of my first ever sighting of a surf scoter, a rare visitor to the UK from North America.
Not the most beautiful of birds but one that clearly deserves attention having flown all that way!
That evening back at Radipole the ugly duckling was more than made up for by the supremely beautiful sight of these black-tailed godwits quietly feeding in the last rays of the setting sun.
Last Saturday this green sandpiper was in front of the hide feeding in such calm and bright conditions as to make a perfect reflection in the water, two for the price of one!
