It seems that a population of red kites have established themselves in the area of downland between Blandford and Shaftesbury.
After seeing five there last month I expected them to be long gone by now but today there were still at least four in the area.
Filming from the Oxdrove near Compton Abbas airfield I got pretty close to one individual.
Yesterday evening the light at Radipole's North Hide was outstanding.
Not many birds were there though but fortunately the resident heron chose to hunt just in front of the hide.
