After filming the female pearl-bordered fritillary yesterday this morning I came across this male.
The males are more orange than the females, shown better in this sequence of a male basking in the sun.
The underwings are even smarter, if you can get to see them.
Wood ants are very common in most pine forests but you rarely see the flying males.
Sat in a tree, completely still and completely silent, was this fledgling song thrush.
Walking back in the afternoon I saw a huge hornet get chased off by an even bigger raft spider.
