Underbarn Walk, Portland Harbour
Tuesday March 26th 2019
This Raven was being very vocal this morning, sat on a tall Monterey Pine near its nest site overlooking Portland Harbour. After calling like this for a while its partner appeared and they dissapeared off into the trees. Many Ravens will already have young by now but this pair seem to breed very late, with the young often not leaving the nest until May.
A few years ago I had the chance to film a group of four Ravens displaying in flight over the Westcliffs on Portland near the Heights Hotel.
My favourite photo though is this one, a captive bird taken many years ago (at least thirty!) at Merley Bird Gardens near Wimborne.
