Thorncombe Woods, Dorchester
Tuesday June 21st 2016
Walking around this splendid area of woods and heathland this morning I found a surprisingly fresh green hairstreak.
After a spot of lunch I moved on to the hills just the other side of Dorchester to look at the round barrows on Conygar Hill.
On a warm sunny afternoon the whole area was alive with insects, including this charming little beetle.
The following video was made at Shipton Gorge.
I have absolutely no idea what type of fly this is.
