On a very cold morning the local Mallards were busy sorting themselves out for the breeding season.
This group of male ducks seem to be milling about aimlessly but they are actually trying to impress the female at the bottom right. As well as swimming as high as possible in the water they also perform a very quick display. Here is a closeup of it:
After a while, presumably when they were sure that they had the females undivided attention, the males put on a remarkable synchronised group display.
