Bob Ford's Video Blog
British Wildlife Centre, Surrey

One of my favourite 'zoos', here you can almost pretend the animals are wild.
As well as the herd of red deer, there were some very approachable fallow deer.
Deer are not really difficult to find in many parts of the UK though.
The reason I came here today was the chance to film the smaller animals.
There are some much more rare species as well, such as this lovely pine marten.
The centre holds examples of all the British mustelids.
Most sleep during the day, but not these stoats.
Best of all was the breeding colony of red squirrels, which you can film from inside their huge enclosure.
One of the squirrels was very dark, with an almost black tail.
Then I noticed this pair of youngsters, play-fighting around a birch tree.
