Walking along the shore of Portland Harbour yesterday I found a small Compass Jellyfish in a rock pool.
I took it back to my aquarium to photograph and was surprisd to see that it was still alive, even though it seemed to prefer to be upside down!
Today it was a bit less active but had righted itself and risen higher in the water, content to spend its time spinning slowly round.
Several years ago I filmed a much larger Compass Jellyfish from the Westcliffs near Portland Bill.
Much larger again are the Barrel Jellyfish that arrive in the English Channel most summers.
The largest one I have ever seen was this one at Portland Bill.
