A major event in the bird world today when this Brünnich's guillemot turned up in Portland Harbour.
Normally a sub-arctic species this may well be the first time one has ever been seen in the English Channel.
Walking back along the shore of the harbour I came across a very tame group of turnstones, doing what they are supposed to.
Here is a slow-motion sequence, allowing us to better appreciate the turning of the stones.
Nearby was this very smart male red-breasted merganser.
And a very brief, but close, view of a great northern diver.
Earlier the glossy ibis was showing well on the football field at Radipole Park Drive.
Warning - the sound track is very loud in this clip, as the traffic was just a few feet away and it was quite windy.
