I thought it was about time I featured the famous "Hoodie", the hooded merganser.
Today it was really pulling out all the stops trying to get the female tufted ducks interested.
Hoodie arrived at Radipole in June 2008 after turning up on Chesil Beach in the culvert near the Sailing Academy.
First of all it looked as if Hoodie might have been a genuine vagrant from North America where the species is normally found.
But when it took up residence in the swannery end of Radipole Lake and showed no signs at all of being afraid of people its origins as a wild bird were starting to look doubtful.
Five years later and not a single attempt at migration it really has to be assumed that Hoodie is a UK-bred duck.
Here it is mooching around with the usual gang of tufted ducks. Filmed last March.
And here's another film from last year of Hoodie having a stretch and a preen.
