Radipole Lake RSPB Reserve
Tuesday September 3rd 2019
The latest result from the trailcams I've been putting out at Radipole shows an Otter sprainting, filmed simultaneously by two cameras that both happened to be pointing at the same spot. This was not completely intentional as the lower camera had been discovered by a herd of cows and was not in its original position. In fact a day or two after this sequence the camera was trodden on, dunked in the river and generally vandalised by one of the cows. Luckily the SD card in it was unharmed.
I had put these cameras out because I hadn't seen any Otters at Radipole for several years and wanted to know if they were still about. The best year for them was undoubtedly 2016, when a family of three or four Otters was seen by many people right through the summer. This video was made from the concrete bridge at about 0800 on Sept 28th.
