I finally managed a half decent shot of the male marsh harrier today.
This bird is very smart, but the black bar across the base of the flight feathers is supposed to make it a young bird.
But this bird has looked exactly the same for several years now so presumably it is an unusually marked adult.
Nowhere near as unusual as the other resident male though, the red one that has been breeding at Lodmoor in recent years.
